Spaying / Neutering: The Facts

What Is Spaying / Neutering?

Spaying refers to female animals and is a surgical procedure in which both the ovaries and uterus are removed.                        Neutering refers to male animals and is a surgical procedure in which both testicles are removed.

When should my pet be Spayed / Neutered?

The earlier the surgery the better for the animal. As most dogs are able to reproduce at age 6 months, we recommend surgery between 2 to 4 monhs of age.

Will the procedure hurt my pet?

No, during the procedure your pet will be fully anesthetized and will not feel any pain. As with any surgery there may be some discomfort associated with the procedure post-operatively but this is kept to a minimum with the use of analgesic medications.
